Eskimo Pie Wiley & Will searched for the northern route to greet the penguins, shop with polar bears, dance with icebergs. Pioneers of puddle jumpers and pontoon planes breaking bread with Eskimos in a pseudo–snow first contact. Ole Will Rogers 'n Wiley Post doin' rope tricks in the air, roundin' up seagulls & pelicans to link the latitudes, the longitudes pioneers of the polar route. Time sniffed them out – 8:18 p.m. – stalked the phony fly bird sealed their lips with icicles wrapped their maps & charts in snowdrifts. The Eskimos eavesdropped through their tears followed the rabbit tracks & opened up a trade route with Russia. Now Madison Avenue is made of igloos, the Miracle Mile of ice cubes, Rodeo drive of snowflakes & some nights the sun never goes down at all. L. B. Sedlacek |
