A Blue Cotton Blouse Fluttering

I open the window

            and can't stop breathing,

                        it happens. There's heels

on cobblestone, in a hurry too.

            I can't look out without

seeing my Mum. Not the eyes,

hard olive, but the slight

            death, the dry bouquet.

Also, can't put my own weight

on the ground anymore. I fear

            I’m holding my own

                        breath. But I’m empty.

Then full, a blue cotton blouse

            fluttering. Breathing's a breeze.

Just because you can't see it

doesn't mean it isn't there.
