ANY TRAIN CAN BE

ON ANY TRACK

AT ANY TIME

It may not be worthwhile, therefore,

to leave your house ahead of schedule,

or to look both ways as a precaution

before crossing the railroad bed.

And if passengers can't trust their

timetables or station announcements,

so that destinations and points of

departure exist only in theory, imagine

how your mind would be boggled

were you the conductor or, worse,

switchman—though perhaps without

any rules, expectations, or cares, your job

might be quite easy.  In either case,

as customer or operator, please plan

to purchase plenty of reliable life

insurance after mapping out the many

fine attractions you wish to see.

Conversely, to avoid undue confusion,

it's true that you may simply prefer

to stay at home.  That, in fact,

may be the best or only way

to sidestep a head-on collision.
