Science, the backyard

They are growing newly triply

sweet apricots in California,

nearly as sweet, but more

resilient than those of the former

southern Soviet Republics.

I thought I loved our apricots.

How good will the new ones be?

It is said they have smooth skin.

A significant section of the plum

tree is now gone, oddly seemingly

having cracked under the weight

of itself, while bearing only

the new tiny fruit. I will have

to really reach for next week's

luscious ripening, but the tree

is alive & relentlessly productive.
